The Centre goals are following:
- develop institutional and organizational capacity at national, regional and international levels through seminars, training courses, conferences and scientific publications;
- implement studies and research activities on sustainable and renewable energy sources and develop related concepts and other integrated methods on their use, applications, management and saving;
- provide technical assistance and expertise in the definition of energy policies and strategies and contribute to raising awareness of national and international institutions, NGOs and governments;
- disseminate the relevant scientific and technological knowledge on sustainable and renewable energy sources and promote the exchange of information and know-how including by means of specialized networks;
- develop extensive databases (of energy data, state-of-the-art knowledge, list of experts, etc.) to enhance the dissemination of scientific knowledge at national, regional and international levels;
- facilitate and promote the sharing of best practices in related energy areas.
Tasks:
The tasks of the Centre emphasize the pursuit of sustainable development and management of energy resources with the aim of contributing to the general efforts towards ensuring a long-term sustainable and environmentally responsible supply of energy. The activities of the Centre will also address the needs, priorities and strategies of developing and developed countries alike, through a multi-disciplinary approach involving the technical, economical, environmental, social and cultural aspects of energy use, conversion and applications.
